Why Nikon Part 1: The Nikon F3 The First SLR I Ever Used

The Nikon F3 was a great camera, Nikon’s flagship professional single lens reflex camera. It was released in the 1980’s and quickly became the camera of choice for many professional photographers. My brother was not a professional photographer but he had managed to save enough to buy himself an F3 and a number of lenses to go with it.

I am quite a few years younger than my brother and although I had little technical knowledge of photography I knew I was  interested in it an therefore had a longstanding hope of one day being allowed to borrow my bother’s Nikon F3 kit. It didn’t have to be the Nikon F3, it could have been any SLR and I would have wanted to borrow it, but it was a Nikon F3 and when the day finally came and I was allowed to borrow it nothing was going to wipe the smile off my face. After that initial opportunity to borrow the Nikon F3 there were a number of others and my time using the Nikon F3 is one of the major reasons I’m a Nikon user today.
